The 2025 NBGSARA Review highlights the vital work of New Brunswick’s nine volunteer Ground Search and Rescue teams. Throughout the year, volunteers contributed more than 62,000 hours, responded to 122 callouts and 57 police files, and continued to support training, emergency preparedness, community education, and prevention initiatives across the province.
The review also recognizes the strong partnerships that make this work possible, including collaboration with police services, the RCMP, New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization, and community organizations. It highlights the expansion of Project Lifesaver, AdventureSmart programming for more than 2,400 youth and 153 adults, and the growing need for sustainable, long-term support as search and rescue demands continue to evolve.
Beginning in 2026, the association will operate under the name SAR NB RES, Search and Rescue New Brunswick Recherche et Sauvetage. This new operating name reflects the bilingual communities we serve, while our legal name, mission, values, training, and operational approach remain unchanged.
